Edgar Allan Poe és reconegut sovint pels seus relats curts carregats de misteri i foscor. Més enllà de ‘La Caiguda de la Casa Usher‘, ‘El Gat Negre‘ o ‘La Bóta d’Amontillado‘ existeix també un autor amb un gran vessant poètic. Poemes on es cristal·litza l’essència d’allò caracteritza els seus contes. Un dels més coneguts és ‘El Corb‘ on aquest enigmàtic animal fustiga el protagonista del poema. ‘Un somni dins d’un somni‘ parla de l’evanescència de tot allò que importa al poeta. De com allò que creia fonamental se li escapa entre les mans. L’autor es pregunta si no serà tot plegat un somni dins d’un somni, un miratge.
‘A DREAM WITHIN A DREAM’
Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,

In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
